Flexifoil and Aaron Hadlow present, fresh for the 2011 season, the new HADLOW. Building on the exceptional performance of the 2009 Hadlow Pro, the 2011 HADLOW is the next evolution in freestyle kitesurfing. Created following an intense two year development period, the HADLOW builds on the foundation of precision performance and astounding power to create a kite that continues to redefine the boundaries of freestyle kitesurfing. Designed with Aaron’s unprecedented attention to detail and exacting attitude, the 2011 HADLOW aims to offer the complete package for today’s advanced kitesurfer.
Traditionally aimed purely at the highly competent and advanced freestyle kitesurfer, the HADLOW continues to be the very purest performance machine on the market; however with a new depowered setting, Aaron has targeted a greater span of ability with his 2011 signature model. With a new focus on the progressive rider, you might be thinking that this year’s model has been scaled down. Far from it, Aaron has maintained his focus throughout the HADLOW’s development to produce the peak of performance in freestyle kitesurfing

++ Performance Features
6-strut design
The AH Pro strut design has been modified. The addition of an extra strut has seen the kites incredible performance leap forward an extra notch. The benefit of the additional strut is that is supports the profile better to help it drive through kite loops. It also helps to improve the feedback you get from the bar as the kite has a more direct feel - this direct feel enables the you to instinctively feel what the kite is doing and where it is in the sky. Profile and aerofoil modification
Aaron loved the powered fast kite loop ability that already existed with his smaller 7m and wanted this performance across the range. Significant improvements have been achieved by designing a new aerofoil shape. The new AH PRO 9m and 11m kites race to the top of the window, delivering a punchy drive that is required for Aaron’s powered riding style.
Ultra-thin Leading Edge (LE) Tube
Increases the speed through the window and therefore the maneuverability of the kite.
Supported LE Tube
Whether in HadlowPro 4-line mode or the standard 5-line mode, the ultra-thin LE is supported in the centre section by two lines. This helps to maintain the correct LE shape and increase kite power production. When in 4-line mode the effect is even more pronounced. The two four meter extensions are attached to the front lines which means the tow point of the kite is less effected when the kite is loaded up, thereby keeping the grunt in the kite which is required for Aaron’s signature powered wakestyle moves.
Inflatable wingtip struts
Getting the kite off the water fast is important to Aaron. In a seven minute PKRA heat Aaron regularly pulls an incredible 20+ tricks! If he drops his kite it’s vital that he can get it off the water fast. The Hadlow pros have oversized wingtips to aid the kite’s fast turning ability and a narrow front tube for fast kite speed. These can mean that the kite can be tricky to launch especially in rough conditions. To help the kite relaunch the new design incorporates inflatable wingtip batons across the whole range. The smaller sizes 5.5, 7, 9, retain optional rigid baton, to provide direct turning response.
New XS size 5.5m
During the past year the AH PRO has been the kite of choice for the world best junior kitesurfers. With large numbers of young teens ripping they have all asked whether a smaller size kite would be possible. We now have a 5.5m, perfect for lighter, younger riders and women. As you’d expect the 5.5 is incredibly fast and powerful. The response we’ve had from riders whilst testing this new size has been incredible. Of course this new size can also be used in extreme winds by the very experienced - 40knot riding is a reality.
++ Construction Features
Molten Bladder technology
09 sees the introduction of improved bladder welding techniques to Flexifoil water kites. The new welding process has been tested up to a sweltering 120 degrees centigrade to make sure it will stand up to extreme conditions felt in the world’s equatorial kitesurf locations.
Upgraded flying line
The new AH PRO kites’ explosive performance creates a high peak load on the flying lines. To withstand this power, the flying lines have been upgraded to 270kg (from 250kg). The line lengths are exactly the same as Aaron uses. 22m - (18m + 4m)
Larger sizes pack down smaller
Aaron travels more than most people! Reducing the pack down size of the kites he travels with is good news! The 11m and 13m’s inflatable wingtip batons means that the kite pack down to the same size as a 9m.
Less weight, more protection
When Aaron is training he crashes his kite hard many times. Therefore his kites need to be incredibly durable yet super light to aid flying characteristics. We’ve fitted Ballistic Nylon so that the stitching is protected against the rough beach environment. We’ve also reduced the bumpers size to reduce the weight as much as possible.
AH PRO Bar
We’ve had some great feedback regarding the AH PRO Bar, so little has been changed. The bar is factory fitted with 5th line set up as standard. You can of course remove the 5th-line so that you can ride with exactly the same set up as Aaron’s 4-line configuration.
‘Super grip’ on bar
The AHPRO bar has best grip available on any kitesurf bar in the industry so you can be confident that the bar will not slip, even during extreme moves. When we asked Aaron about this he said they need to toughen up!! The aggressive grip on the bar is vital to Aaron’s demands - during Aaron’s powered tricks the contact he has with the bar enables him to get masses of feedback through the bar and not have to worry that the bar will slip.
++ Standard Features
Anti Flutter
Toughened and flexible battens are sewn into the trailing edge near the wingtips. Reinforced with Dacron, they create a stiffer trailing edge and a clean release for turbulent air passing over the wingtip to reduce drag and provide an increased turn speed.
Rigid Strut
The connection between the struts and the leading edge tube has been completely remodelled allowing for millimetre perfect construction, improved strength and increased rigidity in the kite frame.
Reinforced Leading edge Tube
Reinforced stitching increases the stiffness and strength of the tube. This not only helps soak up a few slams, but also maintains the shape of the aerofoil for a more power-driven experience.
Dacron® Reinforcements
Dacron® front and rear attachment points ensures the load is spread evenly through the kite. Dacron® cage keeps the kite light whilst still retaining strength.
EZ Single-point Inflation
As with all Flexifoil kitesurfing products, the EZ single-point inflation system increases the speed of kite setup getting you out on the water in less time.
Wingtip Dump Valve
This gives you a quick and simple pack down by dumping all air out of the bladders as the kite is rolled up.
